Today Dennis is our Store Manager and has used his years of experience to create strong sales and design team.
Design Insight: I am also very proud to be involved in the growth and substantial transition to further improve the customer experience in our store. We have introduced a more personal approach to service by introducing our In-Home Decorating program.
Favorite Aspect of Working at Reid’s: Working for a locally-owned family business! Here at Reid’s we have flexibility in choosing the manufacturers we represent, rather than taking direction from a large city head office – thus making our offerings a true representation of the wants and needs of Thunder Bay. That local flare has made us the number one furniture store in our community for a number of years.

Janet MacArthur Sales Consultant

Janet has had a long running career in the home fashion industry. She spent 16 years at Peterson Furniture and 13 years at Sears working with both the furniture and appliances. Janet’s caring approach to customer service, years of experience and great sense of humor was welcomed warmly at Reid’s! There is no shortage of laughter when Janet is around. It is this approach that has made her many friends along the way. You will often hear customers asking specifically and greeting Janet with a big hug as if they were long lost friends. Not just a client to Janet – she takes care of you as if you were a family member furnishing their home.On her down-time she enjoys cooking up a storm and spending time with her family and many friends.
Design Insight: Take your time to make sure the furniture you are considering is the right pieces for you. I spend a great deal of time exploring what the customer really needs or wants. It is interesting to find after a good heart to heart that perhaps for the family room a big comfy sectional is more appropriate than the formal sofa and love seat they were looking at.
Design Tip: Finish the room. By this I mean accessorize! Find those final pieces that speak to you like a painting, statue, throw pillows. These items in your space are what will be the unique expression of your personality.
Most memorable moment at Reid's: Working with the customers has brought me many memorable moments at Reid’s. The customers that come in are considering big purchases, for a special place – their home. It’s an honour that they allow me to assist them in such a personal endeavour. Seeing the rooms end result with a smiling customer is such a joy.

Patricia Poohachoff Interior Decorator/Sales Consultant
View Profile
Patricia began her career as an event and communications manager for non-profit organizations in Edmonton, Alberta. Although she had a long successful career in her field she always wanted to do something that allowed for a little more creative freedom. Years of visiting the beautiful show suites of the condominiums her husband built inspired her to pursue her passion in interior decorating. She enrolled in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension’s Residential Interiors Program. Shortly after the birth of their second child, Patricia and her husband Jamie decided to move back to their home town of Thunder Bay! Since then they have opened an interior decorating and home renovation business. Today you will also find Patricia working as the Interior Decorator at Reid’s furniture.
Design Insight: it is very important for me to carefully guide customers through the design discovery process. Many people do not know where to start! I ask many questions about the room, style preference and color. I draft the space to scale using sketch up. The program allows me to take the customer on a virtual tour of their room. It brings me immense joy to see how excited a customer becomes when they realize the full potential of their space.
Design Tip: Be true to you. If you absolutely love that cherished antique passed on to you by relatives – I will highlight it throughout the design. The process of decorating is to successfully take objects you love and incorporate them with your new furniture and accessories. Toss the idea that your house has to be just like those out of a fancy magazine. Let me show you how to make your house truly your home!
What is your favorite aspect of working at Reid’s: Working on in-home design projects with my talented colleagues. We are truly a team – the staff here are family and close to my heart.
